It’s Monday, What am I reading?
Hey everyone, It’s Monday, what am I reading? This is one of my new favorite posts. In order to reach my 50 book goal, I plan on starting a new book every week. This post will reveal that book as well as highlight a book I just finished and a book I will start soon. I’m hoping to publish these posts once or twice a month.

IT’S MONDAY, WHAT AM I READING?

Crepe Factor by Laura Childs – The holidays are a busy time for scrapbook shop owner Carmela Bertrand—but not so hectic that she doesn’t have time to enjoy browsing the booths at the Winter Market with her best friend Ava. The last thing the ladies expect to see is a thrashing man stabbed by a serving fork, dying in front of them.
I still have about 75 pages left, but I hope to finish it this week. I’m really liking it so far but I think I already figured out the killer. It seems so obviously…but no one in the book seems to see it. So maybe i’m missing something. I guess I will know soon. I also got one of the sequels from the library. So I hope to read that one later in the month. Highly recommend this author and series. I plan on checking out her other series too.

The Origin of Species by Charles Darwin – Darwin’s theory of natural selection issued a profound challenge to orthodox thought and belief: no being or species has been specifically created; all are locked into a pitiless struggle for existence, with extinction looming for those not fitted for the task.
This book was my Classic Club spin list choice and I have intil the end of January to read it. I was thinking about reading the graphic novel version since my reading challenge requires one this year. I don’t know much about the story, but I looked it over in the library and found it to be quite entertaining. I know its apparently controversial…so I guess that will make it more interesting. I did study Darwin’s Theory in Biology, but I’m not sure how much of that is in the book.

The Invisible Man by H. G. Wells – This masterpiece of science fiction is the fascinating story of Griffin, a scientist who creates a serum to render himself invisible, and his descent into madness that follows.
I’ve been wanting to read this for soo long. Last summer I read War of the World and The Time Machine and absolutely fell in love with H.G. Wells’ writing. I know literally nothing about the story…but I am just expecting to like it.
This post is part of the “It’s Monday, What are you reading?” series, hosted at The Book Date. Each week we post the book we are starting that week or the book we are currently reading. To see all my #IMWAYR posts, check out my archive. I’ve also recently published my Reading Stats from 2018 as well as my Blog Stats from 2018!
Thanks for coming by! What are you starting or currently reading?

You have a nice set of books for now! I wanted to read The Origin of Species when I was at school. Think I’ll do it one day.

Thanks. I’m looking forward to checking it out. 🙂

Charles Darwin could be quite rude about women (probably only normal for his time but it makes it hard to read some of his theories on sex differences), fortunately I don’t think Origin of Species dwells much on humans.

Ahh, really? Hmm, well that’s not too good. I don’t know much of him personally, only some of his work with birds in South America. :/ I don’t really like rudeness though. :/

Interesting variety of books! I’ll be eager to hear what you think of Darwin’s book. Come see my week here. Happy reading!

Darwin’s book look great so far…but it pretty heavy in science and dry…lol. Interesting though. 🙂

That’s a big jump, from Crepe Factor to Origin of Species.

Hehe, I know. I hope it’s not too much. I heard from a friend today that its long and dry…definitely different from a cozy mystery. lol.

Thank you. Trying to mix it up. This time last year I was reading strictly YA…so I’ve been branching out. 🙂

Darwin’s theory is of course very exciting. I am not sure I would be able to get through his own writing, but on my TBR I have “Darwin’s Sacred Cause, Race, Slavery and the Quest for Human Origins” by Adrian Desmond and James Moore. Not read yet, but maybe this year.

Ah, that sounds very interesting. I might look into some related books too. 🙂
