This was a great book overall. I haven't read many mythology retellings and i don't really know much about Mythology in general but i still enjoyed the book. I was a bit confused at first....as to why Artemis had or needed huntresses... and i still dont know if that is something covered in the actually mythology, but it was still an intriguing concept.
The characters were written great and were very unique but i found myself disliking most of them because of their personality. Artemis, for one, came off really rude. Atalanta was ok, but i'm not sure if i like her completely...she seems a bit cold...i kept picturing Rosalie from Twilight, before she became "nicer". I really liked Kahina and Phelix and kind of thought they were a great duo! I like the king too...but i feel a lot of his story was left out. The suitors were interesting.
The storyline and pacing was sort of dragging though. The races seemed to be repetitious and a large part of the narrative. Also, it was hard to gauge how much time was passing. The beginning and ending bits were pretty action driving and I really enjoyed those parts besides from the actually ending...it seemed a bit too convenient...and unrealistic.
The story overall was great and I loved that it featured strong women and diversity! I'd recommend this to anyone who likes mythology and doesn't mind reading lgbt books.
